Frasca -  Thur/08.12.04

Boulder's newest restaurant boasts the best wine bar in the city!

A couple of employees from Thomas Keller's famous French Laundry in Yountville, Calif., have been hanging out in Boulder over the past few months, working at Mateo (1837 Pearl St.) and looking for the right opportunity. They found it down the street at 1738 Pearl St., where they'll open Frasca, with food from the relatively obscure region of Friuli-Venezia Guilia in Italy's northeastern corner. That means plenty of seafood, game meats, pork, beans and greens on the menu. Frasca owners Bobby Stuckey, a master sommelier who also worked at the Little Nell in Aspen, and chef Lachlan MacKinnon-Patterson expect to be up and running by the end of June. Stuckey was awarded the master title in San Francisco last month.  -dp
