Cardboard Derby  Sat/Feb 2/02

Every year the radio station KBCO holds a cardboard sled race at a ski area in the mountains of Colorado.  All Cardboard Derby crafts must be constructed solely of cardboard, tape, string, glue and paper.  Here are the rules from last year.

Copper is thrilled to become the host of the 14th Annual KBCO Budweiser Cardboard Derby. Join KBCO and Copper for this event on Saturday, February 2nd.

Derby starts at noon on Rosiís Run at the base of the Super Bee. 150 crafts will compete for prizes in creativity and closest to the bullís-eye. Derby is now closed to participants since we have reached the maximum number of entries.
 
Terrain around Event
Lower Rosiís Run will be closed Thurs-Sat, Jan 31-Feb 2 allowing the course to be built starting Wed. night.

On Saturday, skier traffic will be diverted to Ore Deal (from Upper Rosiís Run) and skiers will be dropped down below Skid Road to traverse to the Super Bee. This will be clearly marked and fenced part of the way.

Other Info and Event Rules
Absolutely no overnight camping at or around Copper.

No alcohol may be brought into event. Plenty of beer available inside the event! No alcohol on the Super Bee.

No dogs.

Parking for trailers (carrying crafts) will be at the Conoco station starting Friday afternoon 2pm-10pm and Sat. morning from 5am until 11am. (Crafts will not be allowed to be dropped off at Super Bee until Monday morning.)

Event Day Food and Drinks
Copper Station Camp Hale will open at 6am until 2pm.

Grand Hall will open 6a-10:00a for breakfast; 10:30a-3p for lunch.

Loose Caboose will be open 9a-6p.

JJ's (formerly Molly B's) will open at 10a. Moe will play apres as usual.

Budweiser beer truck open at 9:30am until event finish. Located at base of Super Bee.

Copper outdoor BBQ tent and beer tent open 10am until event finish.
